Germany – Miracles And The One Who Makes Them Happen

Martin is a very successful businessman in Dresden. For most of his life he has also been a very physically strong and capable man. But about a year ago he was diagnosed with a debilitating form of cancer. Bit by bit the cancer has been destroying his life…his ability to work, his pride, and the growing feeling of failing his family. Because of his chemo treatments, he had no energy left to even play with his two young children.
Martin is a neighbor to Markus Franz, the lead pastor in the Schofelder church plant. They were friends before, but have become much closer since the diagnosis. Markus has been regularly helping around Martin’s yard, taking care of the cars, or even just sitting with Martin during his chemo treatments. One day at Martin’s house, seeing his painful suffering, Markus asked him if he could pray for him. Martin consented. As Markus began to pray, Martin began to feel very warm. He didn’t know what it was but he mentioned it to Markus, and then noticed that he didn’t hurt anymore. Later that week, Martin went to a doctor’s appointment, and to his and the doctor’s great surprise, he was diagnosed as being 100% healed.
Martin decided to throw a “back to life” party, and invited all of the neighbors. There Martin brought Markus up to one person after another to tell them, “This is the man I told you about. The one who prayed for me. I have no idea what happened when he did, but I’m cured!”
Martin’s family then took a week of vacation. When they returned, he told Markus that his kids had started asking him about Jesus, so much so that Jesus was a regular part of the family’s conversation throughout their whole vacation. He asked Markus if they could arrange an evening to get their families together and simply talk about Jesus. And more than that, Martin said, “Oh, and I’ve been telling some friends. They’ve got some questions too…Do you think they could come?” Martin believes in miracles. Now he is wanting to learn about the one who makes them happen. Martin may be just the one God will use in launching the Schonfelder church plant.
