God’s Healthcare Reform
What could be considered a current main topic of discussion here in the United States—whether it be in the news, in conversations around the dinner table, the drinking fountain at work, or in a local coffee shop? The answer to that would be healthcare.
On the public airwaves, in the classrooms, and in special town hall meetings feelings on both sides of the issue of healthcare have raised the temperatures of the participants. There is a lot of passion about regulating healthcare. Europe is often cited as an example of good public healthcare.
We hear about billions and even trillions of dollars being spent on healthcare. We hear discussions on regulating abortions, and the topic of euthanasia is frequently brought up, albeit not in this term.
With all the talk of healthcare and the obsession we have for taking care of our physical bodies to perform at their maximum efficiency and perform for the maximum amount of time, we hear very little about emotional, mental, or spiritual well-being. My personal opinion is that we are missing the most important part about true healthcare. The most important healthcare that will affect any American, European or, for that matter, any human being is not limited to this time—space continuum. The healthcare that I am speaking of is a spiritual healthcare.
In Ecclesiastes, in the Old Testament book of the Bible, it says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity in their hearts.” Human beings have an eternal element in their spiritual genetic code. Unfortunately, because of a broken relationship with God, deliberate rebellion against Him, His creation, and divine order this spiritual genetic code is corrupted.
The only cure, according to the Holy Bible, for this corruption and the ramifications of the corruption in our lives is an intentional relationship with Jesus Christ. He lived on the earth, died to restore our relationship with God and others, and arose from the grave to confirm His promise of a restored relationship. He promised to restore the code and aid us in living lives that will diminish the ramifications of the corruption and actually benefit our spiritual, emotional, and physical health, as well as those of our neighbors. This is really what I call healthcare. It is free. It is not only for Americans but also for everyone, including the people I dearly love—Europeans. Think about it.
May the Lord richly bless you.
