The Director's Message

May God Bless America

Dear Friends:

Greetings.

There is so much to say about the American military. I would like to approach it from the position of our mission in Europe and share some news that is not always in the headlines.

I had the opportunity to participate in a military retreat held at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. Once a year members of our ministry family cosponsor a retreat for American servicemen living in Europe. This retreat is specifically designed with military personnel in mind. Some objectives for the retreat are (1) to have an opportunity for dialogue with other military personnel, (2) to get some R and R, and (3) to have an opportunity to let God do a work (in some cases a very deep work) in the lives of our precious soldiers and their family members.

The burdens our armed forces personnel carry are in some ways similar to the general population and in other ways extremely unique. One unique way is that they are on alert 24 hours a day, and if a crisis unfolds, they can be drawn into duty in a very short time. Also, spouses, and in many cases, children, endure large amounts of separation time because of deployment. Although they are on bases, they are living in a foreign environment not within the proximity of family and friends. The pressures under which these families are placed are enormous.

With that background in mind, the retreat is designed to minister to married couples and singles, and there are programs for teens and children as well. God did some wonderful works of grace in people’s lives at the retreat this year. People committed themselves to Christ as their Savior, others received a physical healing, and still others confessed their faith publicly in a water baptism service. All had the opportunity to express themselves in worship and prayer to the Lord and receive ministry.

I want to commend the Assemblies of God chaplaincy and AGWM personnel who worked together for this event. I want our readers to know that if you have sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, or colleagues who are serving in the military in Europe and who would like to connect to a church or group that has their spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional interests in mind and heart, they can contact our office. We will direct them to the proper personnel.

I salute our military personnel in Europe and around the world as they give sacrificially of themselves and their families to carry on the work of ensuring freedom for the United States of America.

May God bless America.

Sincerely,

Greg Mundis
