| The Director's Message
by Greg Mundis
Dear
Friends:
"Go into all the
world and preach the gospel."
The ramifications of such a statement to Jesus' disciples
must have been overwhelming. History records that they
were not too anxious to even leave Jerusalem! The words
of Jesus did come to pass, and eventually the disciples,
and those mentored by the disciples, went to the uttermost
parts of the earth.
A small group of disenfranchised preachers met in Hot
Springs, Arkansas, in 1914 to band together to preach
the gospel to the ends of the earth. At a later gathering,
this group of nearly 300 people called the Assemblies
of God "committed themselves to the greatest evangelism
the world has ever known." That statement was pretty
audacious.
History now tells us that the Assemblies of God worldwide
numbers close to 50 million members and adherents. Approximately
6,000 people per day are saved through the facilitation
of the worldwide Assemblies of God. Think about it .
. . Pentecost . . . twice a day, every day of the year.
God is at work.
The Great Commission is not great because of our economic
standing. It is not great because it is obeyed by great
people. It is not great because of technology. No-the
Great Commission is great because of the Great Commissioner!
His Word is true and applicable in the first, twentieth,
and twenty-first century.
The year of 2004 contains many, many unknowns. However,
the one clearly known mandate is that we are to "go
into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature!"
No matter what our ethnic background, language, social,
or economic status, no matter what the world conditions
are or what political agendas are on the horizon, and
no matter whether there be terrorism or peace, it has
been clearly communicated to us that we are to "preach
the gospel to every creature."
Have a great year!
God Bless ,
Greg Mundis
