454 and Counting

People-the gospel is for people. "People who love people are the luckiest people in the world." This line from an old song has a lot to communicate. A line more important than this, however, would be "God who loves people sent His only begotten Son..." This incarnation of the Son gives us a pattern for our missionary work in Europe.

Giving money, sponsoring events, or initiating programs is not incarnating the gospel to people who desperately need a Savior. The most important thing we do is to send "God called" people who incarnate the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to Europe and those who are coming to its shores.

Just last month, the Lord commissioned, through the Assemblies of God World Missions, 12 missionary units to go to Europe and to preach the gospel. We now total 454 missionaries and missionary associates serving in 33 different countries of Europe. Give God praise for continuing to call people into His work overseas.

Have you ever thought about sharing your ministry overseas? In the Assemblies of God, you have opportunities to share your life and work skills in a program called MAPS where you can work overseas from one to five months. Or you could minister as a missionary associate from one to two years to get a taste of missions, be a blessing to missionaries, and see if the Lord is dealing in your heart.

I would encourage you, if God is working in your heart regarding overseas ministry-particularly in Europe, to write us a note, and we will forward it to our Personnel and Family Life Department who will contact you about serving overseas in one of these categories. Not only will you get a taste of missions, but you will be a blessing and, I am sure, receive an incredible blessing.

May the Lord continue to call his choice servants for short-term and career missionary service. May the Lord richly bless you and guide you.
