Kingdom Agendas Over Personal Agendas
Dear Friends:
On March 28, 2007, in the southern part of Portugal, the Assemblies of God U.S.A. and the Assemblies of God Portugal signed an agreement that has historic ramifications.
The agreement came, in part, because of a reconciliation of the two movements that did not have active fellowship since 1989. It is not our place to go into all of the reasons, but the fact is that the fellowship between brethren had been broken.
Over the course of the last several years through prayer, dialog, and building of trust the relationship has been restored and there is reconciliation with the Portuguese movement. On that day in southern Portugal, I, along with the area director Paul Trementozzi and the missionaries in Portugal, joined with the leaders of the national church to publicly sign an agreement that we are coworkers in the harvest field of Portugal and the world. The agreement states that our interests transcend personal agendas to the Kingdom agenda, and we would share a common Bible school open to all Portuguese who want to attend.
That day may not be extremely significant in the annals of the history of this world, but I know for a fact the historical ramifications in the spiritual world, and the ramifications in the world of reconciliation and working together are extremely significant.
We thank God for our missionary family in Portugal and for the national leadership there and for their vision that we should never be chained by the past. Christ has come to loose chains and to set prisoners free from the past.
If He can do this between movements, He certainly can do it in our personal lives. That’s truly our prayer––that God would reconcile men to Himself through His son Jesus Christ and that He would reconcile believers to themselves through Jesus Christ. To that end He has given us 2 Corinthians 5:17, the ministry of reconciliation.
I trust you have a great day. Thanks for praying for Europe!
Sincerely,
Greg Mundis
