Alister and Lindy Belbin, Assemblies of God Word Missions personnel, tell of a first-ever united service of the four Assemblies of God churches in the area of Bilbao, Spain. On a recent Sunday evening, about 180 people including the four pastors gathered together for this special service.
It was held in a Catholic school auditorium which was miraculously provided.
A prayer service with those who would be involved was held on the previous Saturday which was marked by a wonderful sense of the Lord's presence and resulting unity.
A team traveled from Pamplona, Spain to minister to the children that were present so that the local church members could all participate in the service.
A number of non-believers were present in the service and heard the message of salvation preached. Also present were three nuns, including the Mother Superior. At the conclusion of the evening, the nuns came and expressed their very positive response to the excellent worship time. Folk from the four congregations stayed after the service to visit with each other.
The excellent impact which resulted from this service is best summarized by the words of the leading nun: "Whenever you need the facilities for special services, they are available to you." The Belbins goal is that this joint service will be the beginning of many more such services, with even greater visible results.
