Can you imagine a more desperate situation than being a new mother and believing that your only option is to abandon your baby? Genesis 16 records just such a story about a woman named Hagar. But Hagar's story doesn't end in desperation. She is empowered when she realizes that there is a God who sees her, cares about her and has made provision for her. She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me.” Genesis 16:13
AGWM missionary, Raegan Glugosh, felt led by God to show desperate, young Romanian mothers that there still is a God who sees them, cares for them and is making provision for them. Hagar maternal center, a home for young mothers and their babies was founded in Bucharest, Romania to prevent baby abandonment. The mothers are trained and discipled and they and their babies get a chance to know the God that sees them.
Hagar’s Home was dedicated this past September. Greg Mundis, Assemblies of God World Missions Regional Director for Europe was present for the dedication, as well as many Romanian pastors and Christian leaders in the community.
A moving moment of the dedication was when JoAna, an 18-year-old mother and current resident of the maternal center, testified of how she received Jesus as her personal Savior since living in Hagar’s Home. She shared, through tears, of God’s faithfulness to her and her baby boy Narcis, since accepting the Lord into her life.
During the dedication, Raegan Glugosh shared that the dedication symbolized to her “the realization of a dream and the heart of God for abandoned babies and high risk mothers in Romania”. |
