JAKOB AND THE RED BOX

September 17, 2008

The creative, open-air evangelism ministry of Kilometer Zero in Madrid is expanding to other cities in Europe. This successful prototype is inspiring others to do the same.

Meet Jakob from Sweden! Several years ago, he had a vision for open-air evangelism. About two years ago, after becoming acquainted with Kilometer Zero, he began a ministry in Gotenburg, Sweden.

The people in Sweden aren't as open to stop and listen as they are in Madrid but Jakob and his small team have been faithful to go out every Friday night in a main plaza and talk to people about Jesus. They have seen people come to accept Him into their lives. But they really wanted a red box to preach on, like the one used at Kilometer Zero in Madrid.

Then an team from Michigan came last summer to help the evangelism ministry in Spain. At the end of their time in Spain, they gave an offering specifically designated to purchase a red box for another open air street ministry. Kevin and Karen Prevost of the Kilometer Zero ministry knew exactly who to give it to.

So recently when Jakob and his wife Rachel visited Madrid, they were united with their new red box. While in Madrid, they helped evangelize at Kilometer Zero. The Prevost's 15-year-old son accompanied Jakob and preached his message to a large crowd there. Now that red box will be used to proclaim the truth and reality of Jesus Christ in Sweden.
