GOD'S GRACE IN MY LIFE
as told by Marie-Nelcie DEMEUSE

May 13, 2008

I grew up in a family of 9 children in Reunion Island.  Sad to say, my father was an alcoholic. My brothers, sisters and I were violently beaten at times. We never had enough to eat and were very often sick. I never understood why my parents often fought. They finally were divorced, after which my mother was left alone to raise 9 children. In fact, I had the impression that everything was falling apart for my entire family.

Being in a depressed state of mind, our mother threatened suicide. Her continued suffering eventually led to a heart attack, paralyzing her left side from head to toe. Can you imagine the panic? Over the following months we had to care for ourselves. Because of God’s grace and our mother’s training, the older children looked after the younger ones until she regained her health. In all honesty, I hated my father and no longer trusted anyone. Although there was so much anger in my heart, at the same time I always longed to have a father who was powerful and strong. My heart’s desire was to have a father who would defend and protect me, one who would take care of me and all of my family. During that time of living in darkness, so sad and obscure, God saw me and was taking care of me just as I longed for.

Sometime later, one of my sisters (15 years of age) was possessed of several demonic spirits. Belonging to a certain religion, my mother called the church’s spiritual leader for help. After seeing the condition of my sister, he immediately fled. Totally surprised, my mother decided to continue praying as best as she knew how. I believe that God heard the cries of her hopelessness and suffering. One day an evangelist came by for a visit and invited us to pray with him. As he led us and prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, my sister was finally delivered, set free and healed.

As time went by we prayed and sought God’s presence. Little by little we all felt a profound peace and we began to know the real joy of living. Our family accepted the Lord as Savior. I learned to forgive my father. He also gave his heart to the Lord and we were all baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit. Ever since then, the Lord has never let go of my hand. He has been that powerful and strong father to me. Along with my husband and children, I am so blessed. The Lord is allowing me to experience more and more of His favor as I live for Him each day. Praise God!

AGWM Personnel, Roger Myers relates that Marie-Nelcie and her 4 children have been a part of the Ciney, Belgium church since its inception. The three oldest children were recently baptized.
