An annual retreat is held for our U.S. military based in Europe. This is coordinated by our AGWM personnel, Al Perna, the director of Assemblies of God Military Ministries Europe (AGMME) and the Assemblies of God Military chaplain's representative. What God did in this last retreat was, in Perna's words, "marvelous, NOT incredible, because it His nature to operate in the supernatural."
First, a young wife and mother from the AGMME church in Wiesbaden had accepted the Lord as Savior a few months previous, but hesitated to be baptized. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully on her after the first service of the retreat and so she said, "I need to be baptized!" It took some doing, but the Christian lodge manager allowed the group to use the indoor pool for 15 minutes after it closed at 10 PM, just long enough to do the baptism.
Another night, after the preaching of the Word, an Air Force pilot's wife whom the Perna's had met in England in 2003, stepped forward and said, "I must make my commitment with the Lord and be baptized tonight." Perna's wife, Emanuela had been discipling this woman via phone and e-mails for four years.
Next, a soldier who had injured his leg and could not stand without a support and had been using a cane for four months felt God touch him while worshipping. We saw a cane hanging on the pulpit. He then testified that he had tried walking, then the next day tried playing golf, and the following day went ice skating with the youth. He had been healed!
The youth had some awesome times in their meetings as the Holy Spirit convicted of personal sins. They confessed hidden sins in their lives. Children as well were seeking and praising God in song and worship. At times, they were laid out on the floor, faces in their hands, praying earnestly.
