Susan Kennedy, AGWM personnel in Spain, tells of her developing friendship with a Bulgarian hotel maid whom she met during a retreat held at the hotel. Because of Susan's warm and personal interest during this chance meeting, she has been able to share the Good News of Christ to this Bulgarian friend, Diana, as well as to Diana's other family members and friends.
 Two weeks after this initial meeting, Susan met Diana for coffee on her day off. Diana told her about her background and about a sovereign intervention by the Lord in her life when she was having a nervous breakdown. During that experience, she heard a voice telling her to cry out to God for help. Being raised under communism, she didn't even know if there was a God! In her desperation, she obeyed the voice and was completely set free from depression. Diana expressed her hunger to know God better. That day Susan talked to her about God’s love through Jesus Christ and they prayed together.
Over the next two months, Susan and Diana talked by telephone. Very recently Susan arranged to meet for coffee with Diana and when Susan arrived, Diana's sister Flor and another friend were with her. Diana is concerned about her sister because Flor is in an unhealthy relationship. Also Flor says she doesn’t believe in God. Most of the conversation revolved around Flor telling Susan her background (nine years ago she lost a 5 year-old-son in an accident) which opened the door for Susan to tell the story of Adam and Eve and explain how sin entered into the world and how God has offered humanity freedom from sin. They prayed together before parting that day. Flor asked that Susan and her husband Steve come to her apartment next week for prayer. She thinks that there is some kind of evil influence in her apartment.
The neighborhood Diana lives in is replete with Bulgarians! Susan has offered to have a Bible study with some of her friends and family members. Susan's desire is that these contacts will result in many in this Bulgarian community coming to a personal relationship with Jesus.
