In October 2006, the Spanish Assemblies of God Missions Department, founded several years ago by AGWM missionary Scott Smith along with Spanish national, Alfredo Gómez, held the first intensive session of its school of missions. This program was organized for individuals that feel called to missions but who also realize they are in need of further training. Amazingly, a group of 52 people enrolled for these sessions. This unexpected number of participants precipitated the need to move the venue for this training from the Tarragona Ministry Center to a larger facility in a nearby hotel.

The School of Missions program lasts for two years and includes several college level courses from Global University of the Assemblies of God done on a correspondence basis as well as four intensive sessions. The students are also expected to participate in a short-term missions trip during the course of these two years. This school has long been a dream of Alfredo Gómez, head of the Spanish A/G missions department and was organized by Daniel Palma, a missionary from the Argentine A/G to Granada, Spain. The teacher of the intensive course was Scott Smith, missionary to Spain from the Northern California/Nevada District of the Assemblies of God. The message for the first night was to be motivational. However, as Smith explains, these who have dedicated two years of their lives to the study of missions are certainly already motivated.

The next intensive session is scheduled for early next year. The Spanish missions department now has missionaries in three countries; Romania, Peru and a North African country. All of the missionaries are fully supported by the Spanish Assemblies of God churches.
