AGWM Personnel in Romania, Raegan Glugosh, ministers in Hagar Home, primarily to unwed mothers and their children.
The following testimony of one of their resident mothers illustrates the eternal as well as the immediate results of this ministry.
"My name is Cristina and I was born on February 8, 1991 in Bucharest. When my
mother got pregnant with me, my father forced her to make a decision: the baby or
him. My mother chose me and raised me till I was 8 months old. However, being
overwhelmed with the needs of being a mom, she sent me to live with my
grandparents till I was 11 years old. They lived in the countryside and worked a lot
so didn't have much time to spend with me. When I was 8 years old, I started
smoking and skipping school even though I made good grades.
Around this time, my mother got remarried and decided to take me to live with them. This sudden change was difficult
for me. I started to rebel and so when I was 14 I ran away from home to live on the streets. I would sleep on the stairs
of different apartment buildings, in abandoned buildings, or wherever I could find a spot.
Last year I found out I was pregnant and a few months after this I heard about 'Hagar House' maternal center. I had
an interview and was accepted after a period of time when I proved that I really wanted to be in the program.
For me, Hagar maternal center is the home that I never had but had always wanted. Yes, there are
responsibilities and rules here, but I have everything that I need for my baby to have normal growth. Now I can come home after a long day and find a place full of peace. My baby's name is Robert. He is healthy, has blue eyes and has a 'good relationship' with his roommate who is a month younger than him.
Recently I had the chance to finish a professional cooks' training course and I have found a job in a restaurant. I have a
greater motivation to do well at this for the sake of my precious baby to whom I want to offer a good future and a childhood
without worries.
One of the blessings of the maternal center Hagar Home is that I can benefit from
counseling, Bible studies, and fellowship with other Christians. Through this I can get
closer to God and understand His word. I realize that by myself I cannot make it.
I wanted so much to be assisted by a Christian organization because I realize that only God
can help and heal things in my life, like the 'street' that was still in me. I want to
leave the past behind and to start a new road led by God through the power which God
gives me. I also want to be baptized soon, as a sign of an eternal covenant. I realize that
only through Jesus I can have a stable life and I really want this stability for my family. I also
want to be able offer my son constant love, just as I wanted while growing up, and that comes from
God alone.
