AGWM Personnel, Doug Webber, serves as the Eastern European Director for Convoy of Hope Europe (CoHEU). This is a humanitarian ministry meeting the spiritual and physical needs of suffering people. Albania has been the focus of several of their efforts. He shares the following report:
A CoHEU team traveled to a minimum security prison in Albania which houses 350 male prisoners. They brought bags of food and toiletries for each prisoner. The prison was antiquated and small. The CoHEU team worked with Pastor Koli who ministers in the prison two days per week. Previous to our visit, he had been mistreated by the guards and had shared this with us as a concern. The team prayed that God would open doors and give favor.
The prison administrative head greeted the team warmly, enthusiastically thanking them for coming. The team was allowed to participate in a soccer match with the prisoners. They also mingled with the prisoners and shared the gospel. It was an extraordinary answer to prayer as three prisoners gave their hearts to the Lord.
The next outreach was in a small village outside Lushnja. Arrangements were made with a bar owner to have a service. The vans arrived filled with food and a crowd began to gather on the street. The villagers were invited to join the team in the bar where they sang and heard the gospel. The guests received 200 bags of groceries to meet their needs.
On Saturday, Pastor Koli invited the surrounding neighborhood to his church for a service and food distribution. The Convoy team worked in the garden tilling the soil and weeding, so the church would look a little nicer. The church is actually a 150 year old house that is in disrepair and is 300 yards from a new modern mosque. Over 100 neighbors came and heard the gospel.
Just prior to the service, Joan Rodgers, one of the team members returned from praying for a sick woman in the village and described the woman dancing for joy because her leg was healed. We prayed for the sick and a young boy who could barely speak was healed. He spoke his name for the first time in his life. Over two hundred bags of groceries were distributed.
Continually during the days of the outreach, the team worked bagging groceries, over 1500 in all. Convoy of Hope Europe is impacting Albania with the love of Jesus.
