"CHRISTIAN" COMES TO CHRIST

June 23, 2009

Kevin and Karen Prevost, AGWM personnel in Spain, are regularly evangelizing on the streets of Madrid.  Short gospel messages are given, literature is distributed, great music with a message is heard, and individuals are engaged in conversation regarding eternity.  People are encountering God through these efforts.

One Monday night, Karen went to talk to Minna, a 19-year-old girl from Finland who had stopped to listen to the music and message.  Karen says, "I asked her what she thought about the message.  She told me she was a Christian, too.  We don't take anything for granted, so I asked her where she would go if she died that night?  She said she thought she'd go to heaven.  I asked why God would let her in.

"There was a long pause.  Conviction fell on her like a heavy blanket and she began to weep as she said, 'I try to do what's right, but I don't know if it's enough.'  She knew in that moment that her good works weren't enough; she knew she was guilty of offending God by things she had done.

"I told her about the One who had taken her punishment so she could be forgiven and welcomed into heaven.  Minna said she wanted to turn away from her sin, and turn her life over to Jesus.  She continued to weep as she prayed in Finnish.

"When she was done, there was a peaceful expression on her face.  She knew she was forgiven and that God had brought her to the Puerta del Sol in the center of Madrid that night to have an encounter with Him.  It was her last night in Madrid."
