CELEBRATION WEEKEND

The church in Moosburg celebrated its tenth anniversary and dedication of their new church facility this spring. The Saturday events emphasized the church's relationship to the city of Moosburg. The city mayor, the Catholic priest, the Lutheran minister and an elder from the Free Evangelical Church were present and gave greetings. The District Superintendent from the region of South Bavaria, Pastor Frank Uphoff from Munich, challenged the congregation to keep moving forward in seeking the Lord and advancing His purposes in the area.

Sunday was dedication day of the new church. Jim Sabella, the Assemblies of God World Missions Area Director gave an inspiring message to see the world with God's heart. Two hundred fifty people came to the two day celebration. Some of the visitors, including a city council member, had never been in an evangelical church service before.

It all began about 11 years ago with Sunday afternoon meetings in different homes. Then they met in a basement room for six months in a small village on the edge of Moosburg. Finally, the upper floor of Hotel Kirchammer was rented in May 1996 as the church center. On the first Sunday in October 1996 the official foundation service took in 23 members. Today there are 53 members although about 120 adults, youth and children make this their church home.

In 2001 property was purchased and construction began in the following year. In December 2002 the first service was celebrated on the ground floor of the new facility. The upper floor was finished bit by bit. Within 10 years, the congregation went from a basement room of 25 square meters to a two-story building of 750 square meters.

The philosophy of the church is to Proclaim, Disciple, Equip, and Send. Value is placed on the family and they want to create a forum in which young and old can experience God together. When possible, the church is committed to seek unity in faith with other Christians and to be a blessing to the city.
