Cristian Popa with his accordion

Cristian Popa's Accordian

God cares for the smallest details of our lives and often uses His people to answer our prayers. Distances are not a hindrance to His working on our behalf. A vivid illustration of this fact is related by missionaries Ian and Sheila Hall.

"Eileen Glanzer who attends Willmar Assembly of God in Minnesota read in our Christmas newsletter in 1999 of the need for musical instruments in Romania. For two years God continued to remind her of this need. When we were at the church in Willmar, Minnesota for a missions emphasis service, God impressed her that this was the time to donate her accordion for Romania. Unbeknownst to her, this was the answer to a desire that Cristian Popa, a Romanian teenager had been expressing in prayer to God for two years. This is his story:"

My name is Cristian Popa and I live in Timisoara, Romania. Since I was a very young child I started to learn to play the accordion and I wanted to have my own.

Cristian and his motherTwo years ago I had the opportunity of playing one of the accordions that belonged to the Seminary but I had to return it as the students of the Seminary needed it. I was very sad so I started praying that God would give me one of my own. As time passed by, I was wondering whether God would answer my prayer or not. One day I was told that Sheila Hall was going to send me an accordion that she had received from someone in the States and she would ship it to Romania. As time passed I thought that she had forgotten all about me and so my dream of having an accordion of my own was shattered, but I continued to fast and pray.

Unexpectedly, in March of this year I received a phone call from the Seminary and I was told to go there to pick up MY accordion. I was thrilled and could hardly wait to go get it. It was such a great surprise for me and I am thankful to God for answering my two-year prayer. The Lord Jesus did this great miracle as none else could.
