A REGIONAL VISION

A REGIONAL VISIONPastor Frantisek (Frank) and his wife Radka have a wonderful vision to reach their region in the Czech Republic with the Good News of new life available in Christ. Their church, the only Pentecostal church in the city of Kolin, has less than 50 members. Presently the church has home cell group meetings in 7 cities. One of the cells in the city of Trutnov has leaders trained, and they hope that it will soon turn into an independent church. The associate pastor, Michael Beran, is working to set up a group in Prague which would eventually become a church. They received their first members, -- a couple that gave their life to Jesus and then decided to get married.

Pastor Frank also travels to the city of Prelouc once a week to establish a ministry point there. Church elders lead groups in the cities of Lochy, Kolin and Mlade Boleslav. Pastor Frank hopes to return to Mlade Boleslav this summer to conduct evangelism and strengthen the group. He says God has led the church in Kolin to plant a church there. So far, they have a cell group, but they hope it will soon grow into something larger.

According to the pastor, Jehovah's Witnesses outnumber evangelicals about 2 to 1 in this part of Bohemia. He says that 90% or more of the people claim atheism as their religion. The church meets for services in Kolin, a city of 30,000, but currently there are only 8 people from that city itself who come to church. Pastor Frank estimates that on any given Sunday, there are fewer than 100 people in any kind of evangelical church in Kolin.

A REGIONAL VISIONIn addition to all this outreach activity, the Kolin church started to support a Czech missionary who has recently begun a Christian ministry in a closed country. Since that time, God has miraculously blessed the Kolin church's finances. They have not had to worry about the bills, and they have even seen an abundance, allowing them to carry on the evangelism to the nearby cities. The church receives no support from abroad, yet they support the missionary, their pastor, and associate pastor. They also bought a sound system to conduct street evangelism. It is obvious that the Kolin church has not developed an unhealthy dependence on missions agencies to support their work. Instead they have learned to give as they are able and to look to God as their source!
