On a recent church retreat in southern Czech, Jirka, a drug addict, experienced the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:17 "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" Several weeks earlier, he met the pastor of the Pentecostal church in Kolin at a train station. During the conversation, Pastor Frank invited Jirka to church and also to the church's annual retreat for a week of teaching and fellowship. Desiring more than the life he was living, Jirka decided to come and see what God could do in his life.
 The first night of the retreat, a group were sitting around chatting, when suddenly, they all started singing, and then prayingl They prayed for Jirka. Jason Morrison, AGWM personnel in the Czech Republic noticed him sitting alone across the courtyard and went over to talk to him. Jirka, almost in tears said, "I've ruined by life. All the drugs, the alcohol, and now I am dying from hepatitis." Jason told him of the good news of a second chance through Christ.
From then on, Jirka participated in every pryer meeting, small group, and teaching that took place at the retreat. His hunger for a new life was so evident. Then one night, during the evening prayer meeting, Jirka suddenly started praying aloud and asked God to forgive him and give him the strength to live for Him. The group gathered around and prayed for him as well. At around 10 PM, the praise team went into the hall to practice, but Jirka and other retreat participants went in as well. A spontaneous praise service started and carried on until midnight.
The next morning, Jirka testified that when he had initially prayed aloud, he felt nothing special, but later, on entering the praise service, God's power came on him and he felt joy and forgiveness like never before. He knew then that he was a new creature and that God had heard his prayer. The Morrisons are praying that Jirka will continue to grow in his new faith and that he will be healed of hepatitis.
